Nefrocenter takes part at the World Diabetes Day, allowing the citizens of 9 Campania municipalities to undergo free screenings, which include blood sugar tests and diabetes checkups.
The initiative was set up by the Group, which has over 40 centers and collaborates with the Unesco Chair of the Federico II University of Naples.
The prevention of diabetes and its complications is the main topic of the day, which represents an appointment for the whole world concurrently with the celebrations of November 14th.
It’s Canadian physiologist Frederick Grant Banting’s birthday. He, together with Charles Herbert Best, discovered insulin in 1921. Since then, diabetes has no longer been a fatal disease.
And yet, with today’s lifestyles, the number of people affected by this disease is constantly growing.
Nefrocenter is committed to the prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications, placing itself at the top of the Italian groups of its own field thanks to its studies, to the established specialists of the centers, who will also be in the squares performing the screenings, and to the cutting-edge equipment they use.
9 cities will involve the free checkups. All citizens will be able to participate from 9am to 1,30pm on Sunday November 14th.
Gazebos will be installed in the squares in order to allow the screenings, in total compliance with the anti-Covid regulations and the citizens’ privacy. There’s no need for a reservation, all the people will have to do is to show up at the gazebo and request a check from the health staff involved.
In Naples, people can contact the facility in Corso San Giovanni a Teduccio, opposite the church of San Giovanni Battista.
In the province of Naples, it will be possible to undergo the free checkups in the Bartolo Longo square, in Pompeii, where the Nefrocenter point will be right in front of the Sanctuary. In Castellammare di Stabia the point will be in the municipal park, next to the steel kiosk, easily accessible by all citizens.
In the city of Torre Annunziata, the screenings will be performed in Corso Umberto I, between the arcades near the Banca Intesa San Paolo building.
In Nola, the Nefrocenter gazebos will instead be located in the Immacolata square.
In the province of Salerno, there’ll be three points for the checks: in Cava de’ Tirreni in Corso Mazzini near the Primo Circolo, in Nocera Inferiore in the Diaz square and in Scafati in the Vittorio Veneto square. In the city of the Agro, the event will happen in conjunction with a children party involving shows and entertainment.
There’ll be free checkups also in Mercogliano, in the province of Avellino, where the citizen can go to Via Ramiro Marconi near the city’s Pro Loco.
This represents another commitment from Nefrocenter to help prevention. This year, the group founded by Giovanni Lombardi also became a partner of Napoli Football in the health field, dealing with the prevention of Covid-19.
Nefrocenter’s staff performs molecular swab to Luciano Spalletti’s team, staff, and management.
Furthermore, Nefrocenter also takes care of the emergency medicine service at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium when the Napoli football team plays home matches.
